Tanks Markets

The Tanks Arts Centre’s Sunday Markets take place on the fourth Sunday of the month between April and November from 9.00am to 2.00pm (excluding August).

Stroll through the lush Botanic Gardens while discovering local, handmade products from candles, jewellery and clothing to vintage collectables, plants, local produce, food and much more!

Market stalls line Tanks promenade on Collins Avenue, with live entertainment provided by local musicians.

Australia Day Celebration

Celebrated on January 26 each year, Australia Day is a national holiday that commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Port Jackson in 1788. Each year, Cairns hosts a variety of free, family-friendly events to mark the occasion. Celebrations often include concerts, backyard sports, food stalls, games and other entertainment, with something for the whole family.

Hot and Steamy Festival

Australia’s only LGBT festival held this summer in the lead-up toe Mardi Gras! The four-day festival will include the Taste of the Tropics Lunch and Sunset White Party At Sugar Wharf on Friday, and the Get Lei’d Luau on Saturday, and Soaked Pool Party At Niramaya on Sunday.

The Main Festival Party is on Saturday night.

The films feature captivating cinematography, complete with awe-inspiring underwater scenes and fast-paced wave sequences that have been captured from unbelievable vantage points.

Cairns Indigenous Arts Fair

The Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) is thrilled to announce its return in 2023.

Visitors to CIAF will once again experience the vibrancy of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and cultures that only Queensland has to offer. The Art Fair will return to the recently refurbished Cairns Convention Centre, while a myriad of dynamic events will activate Cairns’ many world-class facilities, venues, and public spaces.

Cardwell UFO Festival

The Cardwell UFO Festival highlights the extra-terrestrial activities around Cardwell. This annual event begins on Saturday afternoon filled with family fun activities, markets, show rides, and visitors from throughout the Universe.

Saturday night is where the local party with the visitors as the Alien Invasion costume party. Also on Saturday is the C-Files forum this forum is the highlight of the festival for many visitors, a informative morning with guest speakers and visitors can listen to and share their personal experiences of all things unexplained.

The festival sees visitors from all over Planet Earth come to visit their little seaside village – Cardwell, North Queensland Australia.
